Ask any group what they remember most about their charter and it is almost never the fishing. It is the run home: music low, sky on fire, everybody salty and quiet. You can book that as its own trip, or simply book enough hours that your day ends inside it.
Two Ways to Do It
As its own trip. Head out in the late afternoon, cruise the bay while the light goes, and come back in the dark. The 4-hour minimum applies like any other charter, which gives you time to run somewhere worth watching it from rather than idling off the marina.
As the end of a longer day. This is how most of our guests get their sunset: they book a full day of fishing or a beach run down to Las Ánimas, and time the return so the last hour is golden. It costs nothing extra beyond the hours you already booked.
Where to Watch It From
Out in the middle of the bay you get the sun dropping straight into the open Pacific with nothing in the way. Closer to the north shore you get it dropping behind the water with the Sierra Madre going purple behind you. Anchored off a south-shore cove you get it low over the water with the hills dark on both sides. Tell the captain which you would rather have.
What Makes It a Private Cruise
No strangers on the deck. No amplified guide. No fixed turn-around time except the one you choose. Bring your own playlist and your own drinks, put your feet up, and let the crew handle the boat. If you want to stop for a swim on the way out, stop. If you want to sit at anchor and not move, do that instead.
Which Boat
All three run sunset charters. Steel n Time is the one for a big group or a celebration — up to 22 guests, an air-conditioned salon and a full kitchen. Guanatuna takes up to 15 with an open bow that is the best seat on the bay at that hour. Peaceful Easy Feeling is quick and intimate for a small group or a couple.
Good to Know
It cools off fast once the sun is down and the boat is moving — bring a light layer, especially in winter. Departure time shifts through the year, so we set it around actual sunset for your date rather than a fixed clock time. And if you are planning a proposal, tell us quietly when you book; the crew will make room for it.
