The best fishing in Banderas Bay starts early — often before the hotel breakfast buffet opens. That is when guests start asking how they are supposed to get to the marina at 6:30 in the morning. The answer: tell us where you are staying when you request your quote, and we coordinate the transportation for you, so the only thing you need to find is the lobby.

How Our Hotel Pickup Works

Hotel pickup is not a fixed shuttle with a printed timetable. It is something we arrange around your charter, because every group, hotel and departure time is different. Here is how it works:

  1. Request your quote. Pick your boat, date and number of hours on our site, or message us on WhatsApp.
  2. Tell us where you are staying. Hotel name or the address of your condo or vacation rental, how many people, and that you would like transportation.
  3. We confirm the details. We let you know what we can arrange for your location and group size, what it costs if anything, and the pickup time — all before you confirm the charter.
  4. You are picked up and brought back. Down to the dock at Marina Nuevo Vallarta, out on the water, and back to your door at the end of the day with your fillets on ice.

Because it is coordinated case by case, the earlier you ask, the easier it is to arrange — especially for early departures and holiday dates.

Pickup Areas We Cover

Our guests stay all around Banderas Bay, and these are the areas we most often get asked about. Tell us which one is yours when you request your quote:

  • Nuevo Vallarta — the hotel strip along the beach and the condos around the marina itself. The shortest ride of all.
  • Flamingos and Bucerías — just north of the marina, about ten minutes away.
  • La Cruz de Huanacaxtle — a little further north along the bay.
  • Punta Mita and Riviera Nayarit — the resort area at the northern tip of the bay, the longest ride on the Nayarit side.
  • Marina Vallarta — right next to the airport, across the river from Nuevo Vallarta.
  • Hotel Zone (Zona Hotelera) — the big resorts between the marina and downtown Puerto Vallarta.
  • Downtown and the Zona Romántica — the old town and Los Muertos area, the furthest from the marina on the Puerto Vallarta side.
  • Conchas Chinas and the south shore — hillside villas south of town.

Whether transportation is available for your exact location, and whether there is any extra cost for the longer rides, depends on the date, the time and your group — we confirm all of it with your quote, never after.

Where Our Boats Depart From

All of our charters depart from Marina Nuevo Vallarta, on the Nayarit side of Banderas Bay. Exact dock details are confirmed once your booking is set. Approximate driving times to the marina, in normal traffic:

  • Nuevo Vallarta hotels: 5–10 minutes
  • Bucerías: about 10 minutes
  • Puerto Vallarta airport: about 15 minutes
  • Marina Vallarta: 15–20 minutes
  • Hotel Zone: 20–25 minutes
  • La Cruz de Huanacaxtle: 20–25 minutes
  • Downtown and Zona Romántica: 30–40 minutes
  • Punta Mita: 35–45 minutes

Traffic on the main highway gets heavier in the afternoon and on weekends, so add a margin for later departures. Leaving from the north end of the bay has one big advantage: from Nuevo Vallarta the boat is closest to the calm morning water of the north shore and to the mouth of the bay where the offshore fishing starts.

Why Hotel Pickup Makes Early Fishing Trips Easier

Serious fishing days start early. Calm water, cooler air and active fish all favor the first hours of the morning, and the long offshore runs to Corbeteña or El Banco need every hour of daylight. That means departures around 6:30 or 7:00 a.m. — which means leaving your hotel even earlier.

At that hour, waiting in a hotel driveway for a taxi, explaining the marina address in Spanish or figuring out where to park a rental car is the last thing you want. With transportation coordinated in advance, you walk out of the lobby, coffee in hand, and the next stop is the boat. At the end of the day — sunburned, happy and carrying a cooler of fillets — you get dropped back at the door.

It matters for families too. Getting children, bags and snacks out the door is easier when the ride is already sorted; our family friendly fishing trips page has more tips for planning the day with kids.

What Time Is Pickup?

Pickup time depends on where you are staying and on your departure, so we confirm it with your booking. As a guide:

  • 4–6 hour trips inside the bay: departures typically between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m., with afternoon departures possible. Pickup is usually 15–45 minutes earlier, depending on your area.
  • 6–8 hour trips just outside the bay: early departures around 7:00 a.m. are the norm.
  • 8–10+ hour offshore trips to Corbeteña or El Banco: the earliest departures of all, around 6:00–7:00 a.m., so expect an early pickup.
  • Sunset trips: afternoon departures, timed so you are on the water as the sun goes down.

Can You Bring Your Catch Back to the Hotel?

Yes. You keep your catch within Mexico's legal limits, and our crew cleans and fillets it for you at the end of the trip. Bring a cooler bag and the fillets ride back with you to your hotel, condo or vacation rental — or straight to a restaurant that will cook them for you.

Many all-inclusive resorts don't cook guests' fish, so ask your hotel first, or head to one of the restaurants around the bay that will. Everything about limits, filleting and getting your fish cooked is in our guide: can you keep your catch on a Puerto Vallarta fishing charter?
